Apple device have always been able to boast of advanced safety from viruses and spam. Now, not even your phone charger is safe. A team of researchers from Georgia Tech say they've discovered a way to to hack into an iPhone or iPad in less than a minute using a "malicious charger."The team plans to demonstrate its findings at the Black Hat computer security conference. Mac users have been able to boast of being largely malware free, in part because spammers, scammers and hackers preferred to target the larger number of Windows computers in the world. Apple has created a "closed garden" environment in which everything from apps to accessories has to be approved by Apple. The team says they have built a malicious charger, which they plan to demonstrate at Black Hat. "While Mactans was built with limited amount of time and a small budget, we also briefly consider what more motivated, well-funded adversaries could accomplish," they wrote. "Finally, we recommend ways in which users can protect themselves and suggest security features Apple could implement to make the attacks we describe

Yahoo!’s CEO Marissa Mayer has offered $1 billion to buy the social networking site Tumblr off of David Karp. Mayer is interested in Tumblr because of it’s 107 million microblogs that will add around another 15 billion page views a month to Mayer. It would also help in making Yahoo! seem “cool” again. Karp has been very successful in last few months with Tumblr and has just been growing. It is up to him whether he believes that Tumblr is good on its own, or if it needs Mayor’s helping hand to grow. A $1 billion price tag would make Tumblr the biggest purchase since Facebook bought Instagram last year.

Career Results

From the results I got three total matches that tied. The one that I liked the most was Arts, Audio/Video Technology, and Communication. That is using creativity and talents on the job. This includes authors painters, dancers, and actors. For this you would need to be creative and outgoing. You would need to take creative arts classes. I think this fits best for me because I want to become an author.

Google Docs Wrap-Up

I liked Google Docs because everything is easy to access. I also liked the automatic save so you didn't have to worry about losing your stuff. I didn't like Google Docs because it didn't have all the options that the Microsoft applications have. I did like being able to work on the same same document as my partner at the same time and I also like the comment bar so it was easier to discuss what we were doing. I think Google Docs could improve by adding some more features that Microsoft has to make it more efficient. I think our project turned out nice.

Technology Article Summary

http://www.cnn.com/2013/03/21/tech/social-media/facebook-graph-search/index.html
The article I read was about Facebook introducing Graph Search to a hundred users to test how it works and if it is something they want to keep. Graph Searching makes it easier to find friends that like the same things that you have liked, or find pictures that friends have posted before. Graph Searching is different from Google Search because on Facebook, you wouldn't be able to search for websites that are going to help you find what your looking for, but what is on your friend's pages. They are hoping that Graph Search will motivate people to fill out their profile more, like where they've worked, where they went to school, etc, because it will make it easier for employers to look as a widespread of friends of friends if they are looking for new employees. So far they are saying that the users that are testing it now find it useful and are helping them learn how to expand it to make it applicable to all Facebook users.

Reflection

I've learned that ID Theft is illegal and that people try to send you emails to steal your information. I will not steal anyone's information and check my information frequently when I get older and have my own bills. I found the information somewhat helpful.

QR Code Thoughts

I think it's too much work to have a "secret code" since most people are on their phones now and won't be near a computer when they need to scan the code.

I could see the purpose in business people using secret codes for websites since they will always have computers and phones.

New Technology Paragraph

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-16469003 The article I read is about a new app for you phone that helps you monitor you health. It comes with an armband that helps you collect data about your body every minute. They are used to calculate activity levels, calories burned and how well you are sleeping at night - all of which can be monitored through a smartphone app. They say it will help people lose weight.
